Durante i primi contatti con famiglie anglosassoni a Firenze, specie i clienti inglesi del Caffè Doney, conosciuti in compagnia di Boldini, Gordigiani incontra Lord William Cornwallis-West, che gli mette a disposizione il proprio atelier a Londra. E’ favorito in Gran Bretagna dalla fama di suo padre, il noto compositore Luigi, e dei ritratti dei poeti Robert ed Elizabeth Browning eseguiti a Firenze nel 1858. Quando espone alla Royal Academy nel 1876 e nel 1886, indica come recapito il 76, Fulham Road, Londra. E’ probabilmente durante questo periodo che si trova in Inghilterra per ritrarre la Regina Vittoria e altri membri della famiglia reale, tra i quali il Principe di Galles, che lo ospita a bordo del suo panfilo.

During his first contacts with the Anglo-Saxon community in Florence, especially the English clientele of the Caffè Doney, encountered in the company of Boldini, Gordigiani met Lord William Cornwallis-West, who put his own atelier at his disposal. In Great Britain, he benefitted from the fame of his father Luigi, and from the portraits of the poets Robert and Elizabeth Browning, which he had painted in Florence in 1858. When he exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1876 and 1886, he gave his address as 76, Fulham Road, London. It is probably during this period that he resided in England in order to paint the portrait of Queen Victoria and other members of the Royal Family, including the Prince of Wales, who hosted him on board his yacht.
