Nota biografica |
For reasons as yet unknown, Amiconi removed to Great Britain some time before 1859, and for almost twenty years regularly presentes portraits and genre scenes at the principal public exhibitions, while remaining outside the commercial ambit. The titles of many of his works suggest that he retained his Italian identity, although it does not seem that he ever returned to Italy, depite being nominated Honorary Member of the Florentine Accademia in 1876. He died in 1877 (or 1878) in Bethlem Hospital in London, after six months’admittance for mental infirmity. |
